UDC Women’s Tennis Falls to Chestnut Hill

 WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Firebirds are now 7-8 overall and 6-2 in league play with an 8-1 loss to East Coast Conference opponent Chestnut Hill on Sunday afternoon at UDC Tennis Courts.

 

In doubles play, the Firebirds started off with a loss due to an insufficient lineup at the No. 3 flight. Laura-Ann Josso and Charlotte Dawson then defeated Maxime Duijst and Laura Dimante 8-2 at No. 1. UDC then saw success in the team of Alicia Gallard and Peerada Looareesuwan with a 9-7 win at No. 2 over Iman Williams-Mulesa and Axe Owens to finish doubles play.

 

With the Firebirds now down 3-1 due to an insufficient lineup at No. 6 singles, UDC never recovered and were defeated in five straight matches. Laure-Anne Josso defeated Maxime Duijust 6-3, 6-1 at No. 1, Charlotte Dawson defeated Peerada Looaresuwan 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2, and at No. 3, Laura Scholtze defeated Laura Dimante 6,2, 6-1. Then, Iman Williams- Mulesa won against Alicia Gallard 8-4 at No. 4 and Morgan Oechsle defeated Laura Rojas, 8-1 at No. 5 to complete the day.

 

Tomorrow, UDC will visit regional foe Goldey-Beacom in Wilmington, Delaware at 2 p.m.
