Looareesuwan and Dimante Sweep ECC Women’s Tennis Weekly Awards
CENTRAL ISLIP, NY – Junior Peerada Looareesuwan was named the East Coast Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week and freshman Laura Dimante earned the ECC's Rookie of the Week for their respective performances in the week ending October 5th.
Looareesuwan (Computer Science – Bangkok, Thailand/Valdosta State) earned a straight-sets victory ovr Daemen's Gretchen Ringler in the Firebirds' 7-2 victory over Daemen, and then completed a 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 comeback victory over Roberts Wesleyan's Klara Lang for the decisive point in UDC's 5-4 win over the Redhawks.
Dimante was 2-0 at No. 3 singles and at No. 1 doubles with teammate Maxime Duijst. Her doubles and singles wins at Roberts Wesleyan were pivotal in the Firebirds' 5-4 victory over the Redhawks.
With back-to-back ECC conference wins over Daemen and Roberts Wesleyan last week, the Firebirds clinched a playoff spot for the 4th consecutive year. They will wrap up the regular season with home matches vs. Chowan and Dowling this weekend.
