Gallard and Rojas Fall in ITA East Regional Women’s B Doubles Semifinal on Day 2

FLUSHING, NY – Alicia Gallard and Laura Rojas teamed up for a quarterfinal win vs. a pair from Dowling College, but were defeated by St. Thomas Aquinas's Nyenyeri Kanefu and Bianca Signore, 6-2 in the Women's B Semifinals on Day 2 of the ITA East Regional Championships.

Gallard also won her Women's B Singles Rd. of 32 match vs. Saint Rose's Paige Southwick, 6-1, but she was then defeated by Southern New Hampshire's Jamie Hann, 6-4 in the Rd. of 16.

This concludes play for UDC in the ITA East Regional Championship. They return home to host two consecutive East Coast Conference opponents: Daemen (October 3rd) and Roberts Wesleyan (October 4th).

Day 1

The University of the District of Columbia women's tennis team competed in the ITA East Regional Tournament in Day 1 competition Saturday.

In Women's A Singles play, junior Peerada Looareesuwan was defeated by NYIT's Gabriela Siembab, 6-1, 6-1 in the round of 64. Laura Dimante lost to Linda Elliason, 6-3, 6-0, and Maxime Duijst fell to Andrea Samson, 6-2, 6-2, both also in the round of 64.

In Women's A Doubles, Duijst and Dimante were defeated by Goldey-Beacom's Stephanie Puentes and Maria Victoria, 8-2 in the round of 32. Also, Laura Rojas fell to Emma Prinos in the Women's B Singles  round of 64.
