Firebirds Soar Past LIU Post, 9-0

WASHINGTON, DC – The University of the District of Columbia women's tennis team earned its fourth shutout victory of the season, cruising, 9-0 past East Coast Conference foe LIU Post on Saturday afternoon to improve to 4-1.

The Firebirds earned victories in all three doubles matches and singles matches 1-through-5, with the Pioneers forfeiting the No. 6 singles match due to an insufficient lineup.

Reigning ECC rookie of the week Peerada Looaressuwan (Computer Science – Bangkok, Thailand/Demonstration School of Ramkhaeng University) and junior Maxime Duijst (Biology - Valkenswaard, Netherlands/Pleincollege Sint-Joris) were both particularly dominant, winning their respective No. 3 and 4 matches, 6-0, 6-0. The two also teamed up for an 8-1 win at No. 2 doubles.

Also highlighting the match was an impressive No. 1 doubles win by freshman Tamara Kenia and senior Jessica Nunez. The Firebirds first doubles pair defeated Lucie Chrastecka and Heena Kewalramani, 8-4. Both were also victorious in their respective singles matches.

UDC will next host ECC foe Molloy on Friday, October 4th at 12 p.m.
