Men’s and Women’s Tennis Teams to Hold Tennis Youth and Community Day Event
WASHINGTON, DC: The University of the District of Columbia and the men's and women's tennis teams are teaming up to host a Tennis Youth and Community Day. The event will be held on Saturday, November 10th, 2012 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the UDC Tennis Courts.
The day will start off from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. with a free tennis youth clinic for boys and girls ages 7-18. Instruction will be provided by Firebirds head tennis coach, Dickie Mahaffey, as well as current and former Firebird tennis student-athletes.
From 12:00 p.m. to 12:30 p.m., youth participants will have the opportunity to partake in a photo and autograph session with the Firebird student-athletes and the Firebird mascot.
Then there will be an open house with free adult tennis instruction from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 pm. Group instruction will be provided by Mahaffey. There will also be drills, point play, and the chance to hit with current and former Firebird tennis student-athletes.
The event will end with open court play from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
