University of the District of Columbia Women's Tennis Dominates in Shutout Victory at USciences

WASHINGTON, DC - The University of the District of Columbia women's tennis team earned another impressive, lopsided victory to complete its weekend in Philadelphia, as the Firebirds flew right past USciences, 9-0 on Sunday afternoon at McNeil Field Courts.

Having just earned a No. 2 ranking in the NCAA East Region poll, District of Columbia first defeated No. 5 Chestnut Hill, 8-1 on Friday afternoon, then went across town to sweep USciences just two days later to improve to 3-0 against the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference. The Firebirds improved to 14-3 overall while the Devils fell to 1-8.

In doubles play, UDC lost just three games total in the three matches as the Firebirds claimed 8-2, 8-0, and 8-1 victories, respectively at first, second and third doubles.

The Firebirds were just as dominant in singles play, with five of the six singles matches ending in straight sets and the other going 6-1, 6-0.

This was District of Columbia's ninth shutout victory of the season. The Firebirds will host Virginia State on April 10th in their final match of the regular season.
