UDC Tennis Goes 2-0 on Saturday Against Chowan University
Washington, DC—The Men's and Women's Tennis Teams both picked up wins today at the UDC Tennis Facility in Washington, DC. The Firebirds took on Chowan University and the men's team won by a score of 9-0, while the women won in a dominant performance 8-1.
On the men's side, the Firebirds went undefeated in doubles competition. Sophomore Miguel Uzcategui and Sophomore Carlos Quiroga defeated Danilo Galovic and Scott Van Eck 8-0. Another win came when Sophomore Aleksandar Grabovac and Freshman Simon Andersson came out and defeated Adam Moneypenny and Sasha Kirsanov 8-4. In singles competition, Junior Tomas Gajdusek defeated Kirsanov 6-2, 6-2 and Junior Bruno Reich won the battle against Galovic 6-2, 6-0.
The women's team earned a great victory against Chowan University. The team looked strong in doubles play with Sophomore Jessica Nunez and Senior Maria Vitkina taking down Inesa Asatryan and Jena'y Nelson by a score of 8-1. Freshman Sofia Leaon and Junior Tadai Abilla also picked up a win by defeating Brittney Moser and Jennifer Humphrey 8-0. Then in singles competition, Junior Kristyna Nepivodova showed a dominating display in beating Moser 6-0, 6-0. Freshman Maxime Duijst also came out on top against Heaven Rushing 6-0, 6-0.
These games conclude the fall season for both of the UDC Tennis Teams. The Men's Team returns to the courts on February 25th when they take on Philadelphia University at the UDC Tennis Facility. Then the Women's Team resumes play on March 1st when they take on Howard University.
