UDC Women’s Tennis Triumphs, 9-0 Against St. Thomas Aquinas College

Sparkill, NY—The Women's Tennis Team picked up another conference win today against St. Thomas Aquinas College in Sparkill, NY. The Firebirds put on a dominating performance by winning by a score of 9-0.

The women's team showed their strength and seem to be putting their foot on the gas as the ECC Tournament is in less than a week away. In doubles play, Sophomore Jessica Nunez and Senior Maria Vitkina paired up to defeat Samantha Vinci and Christine Patruno, 8-2. Double's duo, Freshman Sofia Leon and Junior Tadai Abilla defeated Candice Zugibe and Kathryn Zebrowski by a score of 8-2.

On the singles side of play, Junior Kristyna Nepivodova did not even drop a set to the Spartan's Christine Patruno by winning 6-0, 6-0. Freshman Maxime Duijst also had a dominating result of 6-0, 6-0 against Samantha Vinci.

Head Tennis Coach T. Richard Mahaffey was very proud of his team as they showed what they are capable of in conference play.

The Firebirds return to the courts tomorrow when they travel to Oakdale, NY to face fellow ECC member, Dowling College.
