UDC Women’s Tennis Dominates Molloy 9-0

Washington, DC—The Women's Tennis Team competed Saturday against Molloy College in a conference match-up at the Rock Creek Tennis Center in Washington, DC due to weather conditions. The day was full of highlights as the UDC Firebirds went undefeated in both singles and doubles play.

The women's team proved what they are truly capable of this season. In doubles play, Junior Kristyna Nepivodova and Freshman Maxime Duijst used their momentum from the ITA East Regional and came out on top against Jeana Frey and Gabrielle DiCroce by a score of 8-2. Sophomore Jessica Nunez teamed up with Senior Maria Vitkina to defeat Nikki Gloria and Madeline Jurlano 8-6.

In singles competition, the Firebirds competed very well. Freshman Sofia Leon defeated Molloy's Michelle Strack by a score of 6-0, 6-1. Duijst had a convincing win against Gabrielle DiCroce by taking the victory 6-0, 6-0.

Head Tennis Coach T. Richard Mahaffey was pleased with how his team performed and looks forward to getting back in action.

The Firebirds return to the courts this Friday when they travel to Sparkill, NY to take on St. Thomas Aquinas.
