Duijst and Nepivodova Reach ITA East Regional Semi-finals
Philadelphia, PA—The Men's and Women's Tennis Teams competed in their second consecutive day at the ITA East Regional located at the Arthur Ashe Jr. Youth Tennis Center. The day was highlighted by doubles pair, Freshman Maxime Duijst and Junior Kristyna Nepivodova winning their Quarter-finals match-up.
The men's team fought through two singles match-ups. Sophomore Miguel Uzcategui dropped a very close battle against Tomas Olfans by a score of 7-6(4), 4-6, 10-8. Also in singles play, Freshman Simon Andersson fell short against Concordia's Daniele Piludu 6-2, 6-2.
On the women's side, the Firebirds dominated in doubles play. Advancing to the Semi-finals was duo, Maxime Duijst and Kristyna Nepivodova. In the Round of 16 they defeated Rocio Benavent and Alexis Tyson by a dominating score of 8-0. Then on into the Quarter-finals match-up the Firebird pair took down Goldey-Beacom's Blanca Sancho and Lon 8-3. Duijst and Nepivodova move on to the Semi-finals to be played on Monday.
Head Tennis Coach T. Richard Mahaffey was happy with both of his team's play and is excited to compete at a chance in the ITA East Regional finals.
