Women’s Tennis Gets Impressive Win Over Virginia State
Petersburg, VA: March 29, 2011- The University of the District of Columbia Firebirds Women's Tennis Team secured an impressive, 7-2, win over the Virginia State University Trojans on yesterday in Petersburg, Virginia. They opened the match with a 2-1 doubles win, and then went on to win five of the six singles matches. They improved to 6-9 for the season with this win.
Head Tennis Coach T. Richard Mahaffey was pleased with his team's effort saying, "After a 9 day lay-off, they came back strong and played a solid match." His numbers 1, 2, and 3 players won all of their matches, leading the way to the victory.
