UDC Women’s Tennis Players Nunez and Vitkina Receive East Coast All-Conference Honors

Central Islip, N.Y.: October 8, 2010—Two members of the University of the District of Columbia Firebirds Women's Tennis Team were recently named to East Coast Conference (ECC) 2010 All-Conference First Team. Freshman Jessica Nunez (Electrical Engineering- Guayaquil, Ecuador) and senior Maria Vitkina (Sociology- Ekaterinburg, Russia) have been dominant players for the Firebirds this fall season.

Head Men's & Women's Tennis Coach T. Richard Mahaffey, III, said of this important achievement for his players, "I am very pleased that Jessica and Maria have been selected to the 2010 ECC Women's Tennis All-Conference - First Team.  Both ladies competed at a very high level in both singles and doubles against conference and non-conference opponents during the Fall season and it is an honor that my peers recognized their accomplishments."
