St. Thomas Aquinas Defeats UDC Women, 5-4, in Tennis
Washington, DC: September 10, 2010-- The St. Thomas Aquinas University Spartans defeated the University of the District of Columbia Firebirds Women's Tennis Team, 5-4, in the season opener for the Firebirds, today, at the UDC Tennis Courts in Washington, DC. The Spartans' doubles teams defeated the Firebirds, 2-1, while the singles players split 6 games evenly between them, with each winning 3.
UDC Head Tennis Coach T. Richard Mahaffey, III spoke of his team's performance saying, " "I'm very proud of how the ladies competed today." The Firebirds will play again on Saturday, September 12, at 2 p.m., at home, against the Dowling College Golden Lions.
