Virginia Union Defeats UDC, 7-2, in Women's Tennis
Washington, DC: March 16, 2010-- The Virginia Union University Panthers Women's Tennis Team defeated the University of the District of Columbia Firebirds, 7-2, this afternoon at the Georgetown University McDonough Tennis Complex. Union swept the doubles matches, 3-0, then went on to win the singles competitions, 4-2, on a bright, sunshiny and windy day.
Two bright spots for the Firebirds were Senior Shakira Watford (Willingboro, NJ), winning her singles match, 6-3, 1-6, 7-5, over Ashley Snead, while junior Karen Trevino (Anthony, NM) defeated LaSheema Jordan, in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0.
