Lady Firebirds Gain First Win of Season

Bowie, MD: The UDC Lady Firebirds Tennis Team took home their first win of the 2006 spring season today when they defeated the Lady Bulldogs of Bowie State University 6-3 in Bowie, Maryland. After losing their first three matches of the season, the Lady Firebirds were ready to celebrate and look forward to the future.

In singles play, UDC's Team Captain Nerissa Peterson-Paul defeated Jessica Bond 6-1, 6-1, while Edith Chidi defeated Danielle Davis 6-0, 6-0.  Eniola Bakare and Amdalat Koletowo won their matches by forfeit. Bowie's Alexus Webber defeated Robin Williams 6-0,6-0, and Annettee Jamison defeated Tyane Washington 4-6, 6-4, 1-0.

In doubles competition UDC's Nerissa Peterson-Paul and Edith Chidi defeated Danielle Davis and Jessica Bond 8-2. Alexus Webber and Angelica Barrett defeated Eniola Bakare and Amdalat Koletowo 8-1 for Bowie's only doubles win, while Robin Williams and Tyane Washington won  by forfeit for UDC.
