Williams Lead Firebirds with Seven Goals Against Bobcats

BUCKHANNON, W.VA- the University of the District of Columbia's women's lacrosse team dropped a road match up decision against West Va. Wesleyan, Wednesday afternoon. The Firebirds fell 9-20 against the Bobcats and fall to 0-6 on the season.

Jada Williams led the Firebirds with eight points on seven goals and an assist while winning a tied team-high five draw controls. Michelle Mitchell was responsible for UDC's other two goals while forcing two turnovers. Rookie, Najee Gunter also snagged her first career assist.

The first two quarters were close as the Bobcats only outscored the Firebirds by two, leading 8-6 heading into half-time. The third quarter was the game changer, as WVW scored eight goals while shutting the Firebirds out. The deficit proved too great to overcome as UDC eventually fell 9-20.

Both teams were even with 15 won draw controls each, but the home team outshot the visiting Firebirds 44-29 and had less turnovers (15-21).

Up next, UDC (0-6) will head to Mercy University next Saturday for their first conference match up. Tip-off is set for noon.
