Atenco-Gonzalez swipes her first goal of the season in game against Davis & Elkins

Elkins, West Virginia- The University of the District of Columbia women's lacrosse team had a season high of five scorers in loss against Davis and Elkins, Wednesday afternoon in West, Virginia.

Freshman Diana Atenco-Gonzalez scored her first goal of the season in what turned out to be a game filled with season bests. UDC had four scorers, which included Atenco-Gonzalez, Kianna Franklin, Madison Boykin, and Amy Rock.

The Firebirds had a rough start with their only goal in the first half coming from Franklin to bring the score to 1-9 going into half time. UDC would then come back to score five goals in the second half, which is the most goals they have scored in a half, this season. The Firebirds also led the field with a season best of 34 ground balls.

UDC led the field with eight draw controls and nine caused turnovers. Despite a season best game, the Firebirds eventually fell to Davis and Elkins 14-6.

The Firebirds are back in action on Sunday April 14 to play in their last home game of the season. They will face off against Mercy College at 3:00pm on the UDC Field.
