GRAND LAKE, CO – The University of the District of Columbia Women's Lacrosse team was one of 63 Division II schools and 300 schools across NCAA Divisions I, II and III and the NAIA to be named a Zag Sports Academic Honor Squad as announced by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association.

Every school with a team GPA of 3.0 or higher earned Academic Honor Squad honors. Four schools from the East Coast Conference earned this honor, including UDC with an overall GPA of 3.36.

The 2017 Firebirds women's lacrosse team has also had two individual student-athletes included on the IWLCA Zag Sports Academic Honor Roll: junior Biology major Dagmawit Betru, and senior English/Elementary Education major Danielle Falco.

In order to be eligible for this honor, student-athletes must be a junior, senior, or graduate student and earned a cumulative academic GPA of 3.50 or better.

Head Coach Melynda Brown's program has now produced four Academic Honor Squad awards in as many years and 11 individual Honor Roll selections.
