Jada Foy Earns East Coast Conference Women’s Lacrosse Rookie of the Week

CENTRAL ISLIP, NY – The University of the District of Columbia's Jada Foy was named East Coast Conference Women's Lacrosse Rookie of the Week for her performance in the week ending Sunday, February 26th.

Foy, a freshman goalkeeper out of Orlando, FL, stopped five of eight shots faced to earn a complete game victory in her collegiate debut Sunday vs. Davis & Elkins. The Firebirds (1-0) earned the fourth-year program's first ever NCAA Division II win with that 6-3 victory and its 2nd all-time win total.

Foy (1-0), who also scooped up three ground balls in the win vs. Davis & Elkins, had a program-best single-game save percentage of 62.5 as she surrendered the 2nd fewest goals allowed by a UDC opponent in program history (3).

UDC, under head coach Melynda Brown, has now had two ECC weekly award winners. Last year, midfielder Amy Rock earned ECC Rookie of the Week for her peformance in the Firebirds' season-opening win vs. Hollins University.

The Firebirds are back in action on Friday, March 3rd as they open their ECC schedule on the road at NYIT.
