DOBBS FERRY, NY – The University of the District of Columbia women's lacrosse team was defeated, 16-1 by Mercy College in East Coast Conference action at Mercy Field Thursday afternoon.

 

Freshman Vanessa Valentine scored her 9th goal of the season for the Firebirds' lone goal of the afternoon after UDC was held scoreless for a little over 46 minutes of play. Junior goalkeeper Dani Falco made four saves in a complete game effort.

 

Mercy (7-4, 2-2 ECC), which improved to 7-0 at home this season, had nine different goal scorers on the day.  The Mavericks took control of the game from the start, scoring eight goals within the first 10 minutes of play and 11 unanswered goals in the first half.

 

UDC (1-7, 0-2 ECC) will next visit another ECC foe and No. 3 ranked team in the nation, LIU Post, on Saturday April 9th.
