District of Columbia Suffers Loss at ECC Foe Roberts Wesleyan

ROCHESTER, NY – The University of the District of Columbia women's lacrosse team was defeated by Roberts Wesleyan, 20-2 in East Coast Conference women's lacrosse action on Sunday afternoon.

Senior midfielder Snezana Blagojevic (Business Management – Kragujevac, Serbia/Shepherd) and junior midfielder Amber Walls (Biology – Temple Hills, MD/Surrattsville HS) each scored a goal for the Firebirds while senior defender Tara Usko (History – Spring Creek, NV/Feather River College) had one assist and led the team with three ground balls. Freshman goalkeeper Dani Falco made three saves in a complete game effort.

Roberts Wesleyan (5-8, 2-2 ECC) was led by the ECC's leading goal scorer, Cassley Jackowski with nine points on six goals and three assists. Ali Fox also registered six points on three goals and three assists, Loren Dunn added four points on three goals and one assist and seven other Redhawks players scored at least one goal.

The Redhawks soared to a 13-1 lead in the first 20 minutes of play and coasted to a lopsided victory from there. RWC out-shot UDC 28-4, won 19-of-24 draw controls, and nearly tripled UDC in ground balls, 22-8. The Firebirds were 7-of-10 on clear attempts but committed nearly double as many turnovers (17-9). Roberts was a perfect 8-of-8 on clear attempts.
