Women's Basketball Season Comes to a Close After Falling to Daemen in ECC Semi-final

AMHERST, N.Y.- the #4 seed University of the District of Columbia's women's basketball team fell to #1 seed Daemen University 66-69, in the ECC Championship semi-final. A late three by ECC Player of the Year Alahna Paige, saw the Firebirds season come to a close. The Firebirds close out the season with an impressive 20-10 overall record (13-1 home record) and 12-5 in conference play. 

Destiny Ryles led the Firebirds with 20 points, five rebounds and five assists and was named to the ECC All-Tournament team. Kensley Benjamin came off the bench to add 14 points, going 4-5 from deep. Tania Hill pulled a tied game-high 11 rebounds and added nine points and a block. Latavia Jackson and Tori Williams each added eight points as well.

The Firebirds end the season with the best record (20-10) and their first semi-final appearance since the 2015-16 season. The Firebirds started the season with an 11-0 record and ranked as high as 4th in the East Region Polls. They made an appearance in the D2CSC National poll ranking #25 on the week of December 12th and ended the season as the 4th seed in the conference.
