Destiny Ryles Named D2CIDA Women's Basketball Division II Player of the Week
AUGUSTA, Ga. – Destiny Ryles of the University of the District of Columbia has been named the women's basketball Division II Player of the Week by the D2CIDA. Ryles averaged 30 points, eight assists and seven rebounds per game for the Firebirds and was named this week's ECC Player of the Week.
The junior guard from Windsor Mill, Md., scored a career-high 34 points in UDC's three-point loss to D'Youville. She added eight rebounds, four assists and four steals in that contest. She followed that with 26 points, 12 rebounds, seven steals and six assists in a 71-65 win over Daemen. For the week she averaged 5.5 steals per game while shooting 45% from the field.
Ryles leads the East Coast Conference and ranks seventh in the nation in steals per game. She is also fourth in the conference in scoring, 14th in rebounding, and leads the ECC in assists.
The Division II Player of the Week is selected by the Division II Conference Information Directors Association (D2CIDA).
