Ryles Nets Career High Against D'Youville

WASHINGTON, DC- the University of the District of Columbia's women's basketball team battled D'Youville University in a Friday night thriller, but eventually fell 82-85. The Firebirds slipped to 6-4 in conference play while the Saints improved to 7-4.

Destiny Ryles posted a career and game-high 34 points going 11-24 from the field while pulling eight rebounds, four assists and four steals. Laci Johnson was a force from downtown, going 6-7 from deep and posting 20 points. Nia Ford was the other double-digit scorer with 13 points and a team high five assists. Jada Bouknight pulled a career and game-high 10 rebounds while making three blocks.

UDC bested the Saints in several team statiscal categories. They shot 47.4% from the field, and 55.6% from behind the arc, fastbreak points (23-7) and points in the paint (32-30).The Firebirds were outrebounded 34-40 and DYU had more second chance points (16-6).

Up next UDC (14-8, 6-4 ECC) is back in action on Sunday, taking on Daemen University at 1:00 pm.
