Shantrel Oliver Earns Women’s Basketball Third Team All-ECC Honor
CENTRAL ISLIP, NY – Senior point guard Shantrel Oliver earned Third team All-East Coast Conference honors after returning from an injury plagued year in 2015-16. The All-Conference awards were announced on Friday, March 3rd at the pre-tournament banquet hosted by the University of Bridgeport.
Oliver finished the regular season ranked 13th in the conference in scoring at 13.4 points per-game, and joined an elite group as the 7th women's basketball student-athlete to reach the 1,000-point career scoring milestone on February 22nd against Molloy. Oliver led first-year head coach Juan Dixon's squad in scoring, minute's per-game (31.0) and scored her career-high 36 points in a heartbreaking overtime loss against LIU Post on January 4th.
Oliver finished her remarkable three-year career with the Firebirds that included an ECC Tournament Championship in 2013-14 and an NCAA East Regional Tournament appearance in 2014. She appeared in 79 total games over her UDC career and amassed 1,025 points, 203 rebounds, 183 assists and 89 steals.
