UDC Women’s Basketball Ranked No. 7 in East Region
INDIANAPOLIS – The University of the District of Columbia has earned a No. 7 ranking in the first NCAA Division II Women's Basketball East Region poll of the season released Wednesday afternoon.
The Firebirds are 18-6 overall and sit at No. 2 in the East Coast Conference standings with a record of 13-3 in league play. They have won three of their last four games, including their last two.
UDC has beaten nine of the other 10 teams in the ECC at least once this season and has so far swept four conference foes. The Firebirds also boast 10 double-digit victories this season.
The regional rankings will be released weekly on Wednesday afternoons from now through the first week of March. The top eight teams (Northeast-10, Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference and ECC champions and five at-large berths) in the poll after the conclusion of the conference tournaments will earn bids to the NCAA Division II Women's Basketball Tournament.
