University of the District of Columbia Women’s Basketball to Host East Coast Conference Semifinal Thursday
WASHINGTON, DC – With the conclusion of regular season play, the brackets for the 2014 East Coast Conference Women's Basketball Championships are now set, and the University of the District of Columbia has earned a No. 2 seed and the right to host a semifinal game Thursday, March 6th at 7 p.m.
The Firebirds (19-7, 15-5 ECC), as the No. 2 seed, were awarded a first-round bye, and they will host on Thursday the winner of the No. 3 Queens vs. No. 6 Dowling quarterfinal on Tuesday night.
UDC, who is appearing in its 2nd ECC Semifinals in just its third year as a member of the conference, is a perfect 10-0 vs. ECC opponents on its home floor this season. The Firebirds split games with Queens and swept Dowling during the regular season. With a win on Thursday night, UDC will advance to its first ever ECC Finals.
