Firebird Men’s and Women’s Basketball to Host High School Basketball Day During Home Doubleheader vs. Roberts Wesleyan

WASHINGTON, DC – University of the District of Columbia will be hosting its first-ever High School Basketball Day on Saturday, December 15th as the men's and women's teams host an East Coast Conference doubleheader versus Roberts Wesleyan College. 

The event will include a dunk contest and three-point shooting contest.  The dunk contest will be held during halftime of the men's basketball game. Tim Stanfill, a former Firebird men's basketball player and member of the National Dunking Association of America (NDAA), will be on hand to judge the competition. There will be also be a three-point shooting contest held during halftime of the women's game.  The men's game begins at 1:00 p.m., and the women's game begins at approximately 3:00 p.m.

Admission is free for any high school basketball player, basketball team, or coach if a roster with names is submitted in advance.  Please RSVP to Matt Rienzo, Associate Director of Athletics at mrienzo@udc.edu or (202)274-6796 to bring your team to the event.

Anyone interested in participating in the dunk or three-point shooting contest should submit your name, school, age, and grade, and fill out a waiver in advance.  Contests are open to any age group, and participants will be chosen at random from the pool of interested candidates.  Please also contact Matt Rienzo to participate.
