Updating the Firebirds

District of Columbia (3-3) has won three of its last four games, including its last two, as the Firebirds get set to square off against the Bulldogs on Saturday. Sophomore guard Denikka Brent (Mechanical Engineering – Chesapeake, VA/Booker T. Washington HS) had a quiet start to the season with just seven points in the first two games, but the East Coast Conference All-Rookie selection from a season ago has emerged as a serious scoring threat, averaging 17.3 ppg over the last four games. Junior forward Robin Keke (Biology – Bowie, MD/Bowie HS), who will play in front of her hometown crowd on Saturday, has also played a key part in the Firebirds' turnaround as she has averaged 6.8 points and 8.0 rebounds per-game in the last four contests.

Scouting Bowie State

The Bulldogs (2-2) started the season 2-0 but have since lost their last two games against Grand Valley State, 75-57 and at Division I Howard, 60-38. Against Howard on November 23rd, the Bulldogs were outscored 40-18 in the second half after a competitive first half of play, as the host Bison went on to a lopsided victory. BSU is led by sophomore guard/forward Bria Robinson who averages team-highs of 12.5 points and 5.8 rebounds per-game. Saturday's game marks Bowie State's season home opener. The Bulldogs were 6-2 at the A.C. Jordan Arena last season.
