University of the District of Columbia Women’s Basketball Announces Final Recruit Addition, Tiara Goode

WASHINGTON, DC  –  Tiara Simone Goode, a solid, all-around player out of Brentwood High School in Brentwood, NY, has signed a National Letter of Intent to play basketball at the University of the District of Columbia, it was announced by head women's basketball coach Lester Butler, Jr. on June 21st, 2012.

"Tiara is a great addition to our program," Butler said. "She is a versatile player who can play multiple positions both offensively and defensively.

Goode played forward at Brentwood and was the team's leading scorer and rebounder for the past three seasons. She was named All-League and All-Conference all three seasons since her sophomore year, as well.

An honor student in high school, Goode hopes to study Biology at the University of the District of Columbia and aspires to be a crime scene investigator.

Butler anticipates Goode will be an immediate impact player for the Firebirds in 2012-12 as they look to replace forwards Dohnay Banice and Stacy Griffith.

"[Tiara's] versatility will allow us to be creative on both ends of the floor," Butler said. "She is a tough and physical player who loves to compete."

District of Columbia returns nine of the 16 players from last year's team which finished 21-7 overall (12-4 in the East Coast Conference) and earned an at-large berth in the NCAA Division II Tournament.
