The Firebirds (18-4, 9-3 ECC) had been on an eight-game win-streak and were ranked No. 23 in the country prior to Saturday's 61-42 loss at home to Dowling in the battle of the ECC's top-two teams. UDC has not lost back-to-back games this season, having bounced back from each of its four losses with a victory.

Mercy comes into Wednesday night's game with an overall record of 2-20 and a league mark of 2-10. They are next to last in the league standings and rank dead last in three-point shooting (19.7%), free-throw shooting (63.6%) and rebounding margin (-5.7). They do however feature the league's third-highest scorer and rebounder in Jasmine Williams (17.5 ppg, 8.6 rpg).

Williams led Mercy with 18 points and 10 rebounds when these two teams met at UDC Gym on January 18th, but the Firebirds soared past the Mavericks, 84-61.
