GAME NOTES: University of the District of Columbia Women's Basketball vs. Bridgeport

BRIDGEPORT, CT - The University of the District of Columbia women's basketball team seeks its first East Coast Conference road win as the Firebirds visit the University of Bridgeport on Saturday, January 14th at 1:00 p.m.

The Firebirds (11-3, 2-2 ECC) are 2-0 at home and 0-2 on the road against ECC competition this season. Last time out, they defeated previously 3-0 NYIT by a score of 77-64. Senior guard Lauren Brittingham (Washington, DC - Potomac HS), starting for the second straight game in place of the team's injured leading scorer, Jamilia Bonner, registered game-highs of 27 points and seven assists to lead UDC to the victory.

Bridgeport comes into Saturday afternoon's game with an overall record of 5-10 and a conference mark of 3-2. The Purple Knights are one spot ahead of the Firebirds at 5th in the ECC standings and have won their last two games on the road at Queens (59-50) and at home against Molloy (76-68). They feature the league's leading scorer in 6-foot junior forward/center, Tanisha Carter (18.6 ppg).
