UDC WOMEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYER LILLIAN MCGILL NAMED 2010 INDEPENDENT SCHOOLS WOMEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE YEAR.

Urbana, Ohio: May 24, 2010—The Conference of Independent Schools (ICAA) has named Lillian McGill, a center on the University of the District of Columbia Women's Basketball Team, as their 2010 Women's Basketball Player of the Year. McGill, a Sumter, South Carolina native (Sumter H.S.), led the nation in rebounds among NCAA Division II schools in the 2009-10 season, averaging 12.2 rpg.

McGill, who was also the 2009 ICAA Player of the Year, was the only player in the ICAA to average a double-double, recording 15.2 points and 12.2 rebounds per game. McGill also received Honorable Mention recognition in the 2010 Women's Division II Bulletin All-American voting in March 2010.

Also receiving recognition by the Independent Schools Conference was UDC senior point guard Nicole Cooper, and Fort Washington, Maryland native (Oxon Hill H.S.), who received Honorable Mention accolades.  Cooper was one of the best 3pt shooters in the ICAA. She averaged 10.6ppg and had a high game for made 3 pointers when she made 7 against Shaw University. She was also ranked 62nd in the country among NCAA Division II schools in three-point field goal percentage and 79th in three-point field goals.
