Washington, DC: February 19, 2010--The University of the District of Columbia Department of Intercollegiate Athletics will honor three senior members of the Firebirds Women's Basketball Team, who will be playing in the final game of their collegiate basketball career, in Senior Day ceremonies on Sunday, February 21, at 2 p.m. Tiffany Church, Nicole Cooper and Tamara Watkins will receive special recognition for their contributions to the basketball team.

Tiffany Church, of Norfolk, VA, has been a four year member and 3rd year player for the Women's Basketball Program here at UDC.  A true competitor on the court Tiffany brings a physical toughness that is unmatched by many in college basketball. Always on the ground for a loose ball or knocking down a big 3pt shot from deep Tiffany has left it all on the court every game as a Firebird.  In her time here she has accounted for over 440pts and has grabbed over 200 rebounds.  Tiffany will graduate in the fall with a degree in Business Management.

Nicole Cooper, of Fort Washington, MD, has been a five year member and 4th year player for the Women's Basketball Program here at UDC.  Improving every year in every aspect of her game Nicole has hit multiple big shots as a Firebird. Her ability to shoot the ball from anywhere on the court has made her into one of the country's top 3pt shooters. Nicole has made over 160 3pt shots in her career, making placing her among the elite three-point shooters in the history of the University, and has scored over 800 points, and grabbed close to 200 rebounds while making over 100 steals in her career. Nicole also leaves as Coach Butler's most successful Firebird, winning 70 games during her 4 years.  Nicole will graduate this summer with a degree in Business Management.

Tamara Watkins, of Penns Grove, NJ, has been a mainstay in the Women's Basketball Program for the past 3 seasons after transferring from Delaware State University.  Known for her athletic ability and being a mis-match for opponents. Tamara has been a 3yr starter for the Firebirds at both forward positions. Coming up with a block shot late in the game or knocking down an 18ft jumper as the shot clock expires, Tamara has been a valuable asset for the Firebirds.  In her time here she has scored almost 400pts while grabbing over 240 rebounds and winning close to 60 games.  Tamara will graduate this summer with a degree in Health Education.
