The Team made a complete turn around during the 2007-08 season, finishing with a 21-8 record, and winning the 2008 Independent Schools Women’s Basketball National Championship. They added 8 more wins to there record than they had last season.

When asked how he felt about such a dramatic turnaround, UDC Head Women’s Basketball Coach Lester L. Butler, Jr., said, “This is a great accomplishment for the women’s basketball program. It shows that the program is headed in the right direction. We want to continue to develop and become one of the top performers in the NCAA.”

With regards to the future Butler added, “We have a good group of young ladies returning and hopefully with the new recruiting class, we will have an opportunity to become one of the better teams in the East Region. We hope to reach our ultimate goal of receiving our first NCAA bid since the 1995-96 season.”
