Robin Williams Elected Sophomore Queen
Robin Williams, a member of the UDC Lady Firebirds Basketball Team, has been elected Queen of the Sophomore Class for the 2006-07 academic year. Robin’s election is not a surprise, because she has the perfect personality to fit that position. She was crowned during the Homecoming Week festivities in October.
Robin can best be described as a very friendly and polite young lady, who carries herself with dignity and poise. To be elected to the position of class queen, Robin had to defeat two tough competitors who had strong ties to the student government and sororities. Never-the-less, she ran a very effective campaign with the assistance of teammates and other athletes and friends. She gives particular thanks and appreciation to fellow Lady Firebird Narissa Eve, who served as her campaign manager and rallied fellow classmates to her cause.
She worked very hard to win the election, doing things such as
baking cupcakes and decorating them with her name as give a ways.
Robin’s parents are extremely excited about her election and
heartedly congratulated her for such an important
achievement. She has given them an array of photographs to
help commemorate the occasion.
UDC’s Head Women’s Basketball Coach Lester L. Butler,
Jr., describes Robin as, “the hardest worker on the team.
This is why she was made a team co-captain.” Coach Butler
also said, “Robin is everything you look for on the court and
in the classroom. She carries a high grade point average (over
3.0).”
Robin is being encouraged by friends to think about running for
Miss UDC in the spring of 2007. Look out Miss America! Here she
comes.
