ANDERSON COLLEGE LADY TROJANS DROP UDC LADY FIREBIRDS

Washington, DC: The Anderson College Lady Trojans allowed the UDC Lady Firebirds to hang tough with them for a few minutes early in their basketball contest today, but then gradually pulled away to defeat them by the score of 88-71 on UDC’s home court.

Anderson led at the break 40-36. The game was close until the last six minutes when Anderson began to add to their lead, finally pulling away on two free throws by Deidra Langston with 6:03 left in the game giving them a 63-68 lead. From that point on Anderson opened the lead to go on and eventually win the game by 17 points.

LaShanda Chiles led the Lady Trojans tallying 20 points on 8-16 field goal shooting. Mikala Fogle-Wilson was the second highest scorer, adding 19 points to the score on 7-14 field goal shooting and 4-7 from the free throw line. Deiodra Langston added 17 points including 4-4 field goals and 9-9 free throws.

Eniola Bakare added 12 points on 4-7 field goals and 4-6 field goals. Robin Williams and Sylvia Kemp contributed 10 points each in the losing cause.

This loss dropped the Lady Firebirds season record to 2-7, and placed them in a difficult position as they prepare to travel to Alaska next week to take on the University of Alaska-Anchorage on December 15, and U. Alaska-Fairbanks on December 17 and 18.
