UDC LADY FIREBIRDS LOSE TO PITT-JOHNSTOWN LADY MOUNTAIN CATS 83-59

Johnstown, PA: The University of the District of Columbia Lady Firebirds ended their 2005-06 season tonight losing to the University of Pittsburgh-Johnstown 83-59, in Pennsylvania. UPJ started the game with an 11-0 point run that ended when UDC got on the board at the 17:14 mark on a Robin Williams lay-up, with an assist by Jaime Brown.

UDC continued to trail by as many as 20 points, ending the half behind 26-46. UPJ shot 54 percent (20-37) to UDC’s 33 percent ((9-27) during the half.

While UDC improved their second half-shooting percentage to 46 (13-28), it was not enough as UPJ continued their dominance hitting 56 percent (14-25) of their two point shots and making 72 percent (8-11) of their free throws. UDC trailed by as many as 30 points during this half. UPJ shot 55 percent for the game to UDC’s 40 percent. Rebounding was close with UPJ grabbing 37 to UDC’s 30, but UPJ simply outscored them.

Robin Williams and Jennifer Jones scored 13 points (7 rebounds), respectively to lead UDC. Deidra Bumbrey and Eniola Bakare (8 rebounds) each added 9 points, and Tyane Washington contributed 5 points to round out the UDC scoring leadership.

Allison Krischer paced UPJ with 17 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals, followed by Crystal Andrews and Samantha Conner, each with 16 points.

UDC ended their season with an 11-22 record.
