Men's Tennis Victorious in Battle Against Daemen
WILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y.- the University of the District of Columbia's men's tennis team defeated Daemen University 7-0, to secure their first conference victory of the season.
Despite the score, it was a very close match up, with three singles matches coming down to tiebreakers.
The duo of Antonio Simo Durall and Juan Estevez Hernandez dealt their opponents a 6-1 loss to win at No.3 doubles. The Firebirds fell at No.1, leaving the deciding point to the No.2 position. Mauricio Corty and Oskar Karos came out victorious edging their opponents 7-6(4) to give UDC the 1-0 advantage heading into singles play.
Karos, Louis Mangeon and Simo Durall went on to win in straight sets at No.5, 1 and 3 to secure the win.
After dropping their first sets, Corty, Hernandez and Louka Queguiner all rallied back to win their second sets and their tiebreakers, to bring the final score to 7-0.
Up next (UDC 6-6, 1-2 ECC) will head to Chestnut Hill next Wednesday for Regional play. The match is slated to begin at 1:00pm.
