Firebirds Defeated by Knights in Road Match Up

FLUSHING, N.Y.- the University of the District of Columbia's men's tennis team fell to Queens College 0-7, in their second conference match up of the season. The Firebirds slip to 0-2 in conference play while the Knights improve to 1-0 in the league.

The Firebirds fell at No.3 doubles, but the duo of Louis Mangeon and Louka Queguiner cruised to a 6-2 victory at No.1 leaving the decision of the doubles point to No.2. The Knights would eventually claim the 1-0 lead heading into singles play. 

QC went on to win all six singles match up, with the closest battle happening at No.1. Mangeon won the tiebreaker in the the first set, before falling 3-6 to ECC Pre-season Player of the Year Roni Rikkonen in the second set. After battling back and fourth, Rikkonen ended up victorious winning the tiebreaker 1-0(9).

Up next, UDC (5-5, 0-2 ECC) is back in action tomorrow as they host Adelphi University on the UDC Tennis Courts at 1:00pm.
