UDC Men’s Tennis Goes Head-to-Head with Howard in Season Opener
WASHINGTON, DC- The University of the District of Columbia's men's tennis team fell to Division 1 program Howard University 3-4, Friday afternoon.
Juan Estevez Hernandez walked away with wins in both the doubles and singles rounds, and teammates Louis Mangeon and Oskar Karos picked up wins at the No.1 and 5 positions.
The Firebirds got the early edge on the Bison picking up the first doubles win at No. 3, where Hernandez and Antonio Simo Durall defeated their opponents 6-2. Howard went on to win at No 2 and 1 to secure the 1-0 advantage going into the singles round.
The hosts increased that deficit to 4-0 after wins at the No.2, 3 and 6 positions to secure the victory.
Next Up, UDC (1-3, 0-0 ECC) will head to Baltimore, MD on the 24th to take on another D1 program, Morgan State University.
