Mangeon and Hernandez Pick Up Single's Wins; Firebirds Fall to Marauders 2-5
WASHINGTON, DC- The University of the District of Columbia's men's tennis team fell to Millersville University 2-5, Wednesday afternoon at the UDC Tennis courts. The Firebirds fell to 1-1 on the season while the Marauders improved to 1-0.
With only five five players, the Firebirds defaulted the No.3 doubles match. Millersville secured the point with a win at No.2 and 1 but not before the duo of Louis Mangeon and Mauricio Corty put up a tough fight before conceding 6(3)-7 to their opponenets.
Mangeon secured the first singles point at No.1 defeating his opopoenet 6-2, 6-1 to bring the score to 2-1 in favor of the Marauders. After dropping the first at No.2 Antonio Simo Durall battled hard to try and force a third set, but eventually fell 6(0)-7. Millersville went on to secure their victory with a win at No.3.
Juan Estevez Hernandez brought home the second and final point for the Firebirds defeating his opponent 6-2, 6-2 at No.4.
UDC (1-1, 0-0 ECC) will travel to Pennsylvania on October 8th to face off agains Bloomsburg.
