UDC Men's Tennis Defeats Frostburg State 4-3 in Fall Season Opener
WASHINGTON, DC- Despite playing two men down, The University of the District of Columbia's men's tennis team managed to come away with the 4-3 victory, Saturday evening at the UDC Tennis Courts.
Defaulting at the No.3 position in doubles, the Firebirds rallied to bring home the point with wins at No.1 and 2.
Frostburg picked up their first two psingles points off a default, before UDC evened the score 2-2 after Louis Mangeon's opponeent retired in the first set. UDC found themselves down 3-2 after a loss at No.2, but Juan Estevez Hernandez would bring the score to a 3-3 tie with the deciding point riding on the outcome of the No.4 position.
It was a tough three set match, but Oskar Karos came away with his first singles victory as a Firebird defeating his opponent 7-5, 4-6, 6-2.
UDC (1-0, 0-0 ECC) will head to N.Y. on the 23rd to compete in the ITA East Regional Tournament.
