UDC Men's Tennis Picks up First Conference Victory of the Season

WASHINGTON, DC- The University of the District of Columbia's men's tennis team defeated Daemen College 5-1 in a conference match-up at home, Saturday afternoon. The Firebirds improved to 3-8, 1-1 in the ECC while the Wildcats fell to 2-8,0-1 in league play.

After securing the doubles point with wins at No.2 and 3, Louis Mangeon secured the first singles point for the Firebirds with a 6-3, 6-2 victory at No.1. Mauricio Corty was up next with a 6-2, 6-4 win at No.2 and was followed up by Jake Bedford who picked up his first singles win (after picking up his first doubles win with teammate Fredis Ayala at No.3) of the season at No.5 while securing the game-winning point for UDC.

The Wildcat's lone point came at No.3 before Maksim Bahdanovich defeated his opponent in a three-set match  6-1, 7-6(6), 1-0(5) at No.4, giving UDC their last point as the weather interrupted the No.6 match, leaving it unfinished.

Next up UDC will continue conference play next Saturday as they host STAC with a tip-off time of 1:00 pm.
