UDC Men’s Tennis Voted to Place Third in the ECC Conference Preseason Poll

West Babylon, N.Y.- The University of the District of Columbia's Men's Tennis team was voted to place third in the ECC Preseason Poll with 14 points.

The Firebirds have four returning players including last year's second team pick Kostiantyn Kalchev. They also welcome two freshmen players, Louis Mangeon and Juan Estevez Hernandez. Mangeon is a Business Management major from France and Hernandez is a Mechanical Engineering major hailing from Spain.

Queens College, who won the past three East Coast Conference Men's Tennis Championships finished at the top of the poll with 24 points.

UDC finished their fall season with a 3-2 record and look to build on that performance as they head into the spring season.

"We are excited for the spring season and look forward to building on what we accomplished in the fall," says Head Coach Theodore Mahaffey. "We have a very competitive schedule, so qualifying for Conference Championships is not a given.  The team is looking forward to the challenge."

The Firebirds will start their season on Saturday, February 8, as they travel to Baltimore to face off against Morgan State.
