Firebirds Edged out by Bentley in Fall Finale

Waltham, Mass.- The University of the District of Columbia's men's tennis team fell to Bentley University 4-3 in the finale of their fall season. 

The doubles round started with a tough loss at No.3 for the Firebirds. Kostiantyn Kalchev and Louis Mangeon followed up with a 6-1 win at No.1 leaving the final decision of the doubles point to No.2.  UDC eventually forfeited the doubles point putting Bentley up 1-0. 

The Singles round started with the Firebirds seeing two losses at No.6 and No.3. Juan Estevez Hernandez secured the first singles point at No.4 defeating his opponent 6-4. Teammate Louis Mangeon followed up with a victory of his own at No.2. Maksim Bahdanovich went toe to toe with Mauricio Fadul Rubod at No.5 but eventually fell 3-6, 6-4, 6-1 securing the winning point for Bentley. Kalchev went on to defeating Daniel Weitz at No.1 to bring the final score to 4-3. 

The Firebirds finish out their Fall season with a 3-2 overall record and will be back in action in the Spring for conference action.
