Bozic and Mermersky Collect the East Coast Conference Men’s Tennis Weekly Awards

WEST BABLYON, NY – The University of the District of Columbia men's tennis pair Rok Bozic and Sebastian Mermersky garnered the East Coast Conference Men's Tennis weekly awards for their performances week ending, Sunday, April 15th.

Bozic, a senior from Ljubljana, Slovenia, produced two excellent performances in the Firebirds victories over Daemen College and Roberts Wesleyan to become East Coast Conference Player of the Week.

Competing at No. 2 singles and No. 2 doubles in both matches he first took a 9-7 doubles win with his partner Feligioni over Daemen before going on to win in his singles matchup, 4-6, 6-4, 6-2, over Rico Ruiz Martinez.

In the win over Roberts Wesleyan, Bozic, took an 8-6 win in doubles before taking down Guido Janssen, 6-2, 7-6.

Mermersky, a freshman from Washington, DC, had a tremendous week extending his unbeaten run to 3-0 in both singles and doubles play to earn East Coast Conference Rookie of the Week.

The freshman from Washington, DC, was firing on all cylinders against both Daemen and Roberts Wesleyan as he took an 8-5 win in No. 1 doubles with his partner Baguelin against the Wildcats before easing to  a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 1 singles.

Against Roberts Wesleyan, Mermersky, took an 8-3 win in doubles play and then at No. 1 singles stormed to a 6-2, 6-1 victory.

Bozic and Mermersky will be competing against Queens (N.Y.) in the ECC Championship semifinals in search of their first ECC title, Friday, April 20th.
