Rok Bozic Garners East Coast Conference Men’s Tennis Player of the Week Honors

WASHINGTON, DC – The University of the District of Columbia's Rok Bozic earned East Coast Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week honors for the week ending April 7th.

Bozic, a junior from Ljubljana, Slovenia, helped orchestrate the Firebirds' 5th and 6th consecutive No. 1 doubles win vs. Virginia Union and Roberts Wesleyan College, while also winning both of his No. 1 singles matches.

First, he and junior Diego Pinto earned an 8-0 win vs. Lamar Richardson and Sonnie Bost of Virginia Union, and then Bozic also went on to win his No. 1 singles match handily, 6-1, 6-1.

Then, against ECC foe Roberts Wesleyan on April 7th, Bozic guided the Firebirds past the Redhawks, 7-2. At No.1 doubles, Bozic and Pinto continued their dominance by hanging on to beat Hugo Ball-Greene and Dennis Barlotta, 9-8. Bozic then went on to win comfortably at No. 1 singles, 6-3, 6-1 vs. Ball-Greene.

Bozic and the Firebirds, ranked No. 6 in the first NCAA Division II East Region poll released last week, host No. 2 Chestnut Hill College today, and then welcome ECC rival and No. 3 ranked New York Institute of Technology on Friday, April 14th at 12 p.m.
