Firebirds Defeated by Queens, 7-2
ARLINGTON, VA – The University of the District of Columbia men's tennis team was defeated, 7-2 by Queens College in East Coast Conference action on Saturday, April 9th at the Arlington YMCA Tennis & Squash Center.
Rok Bozic and Marco Feligioni earned the Firebirds' only two wins at No. 1 and No. 5 singles, as UDC was swept in doubles play and lost four of the six singles matches to fall to 1-2 in the ECC (3-8 overall).
Bozic and Feligioni both earned thrilling victories in their respective matches, as Bozic grinded out a 6-2, 5-7, 12-10 victory over Sharvill Nawghre, and Feligioni won a battle vs. Camilo Arias, 2-6, 6-4, 14-12. These two also teamed up at No. 2 doubles where they were narrowly defeated, 8-6 by Lucas Martinez and Gabriel Mendez.
UDC's Alexis Baguelin won the first set in his No. 4 singles match vs. Roman Laga, but was ultimately dealt a 2-6, 6-1, 6-0 defeat for the match-clinching 5th point of the match for the Knights.
Queens improved to 10-4 overall and 3-0 in league play with the victory.
The Firebirds will host ECC foe St. Thomas Aquinas on Friday, April 15th.
