Diego Pinto Earns East Coast Conference Men’s Tennis Rookie of the Week

CENTRAL ISLIP, NY – Freshman Diego Pinto of the University of the District of Columbia men's tennis team was named East Coast Conference Rookie of the Week for his performance last week in the Firebirds' 5-4 victory over St. Thomas Aquinas.

Pinto (Electrical Engineering – Santa Cruz, Bolivia/Franco Bolivia) dominated his No. 4 singles match, 6-0, 6-0 vs. Chris Jonas, as well as his No. 3 doubles matches match, 8-0. His two wins proved crucial  as the Firebirds won by only one point.

Pinto and the Firebirds are a No. 3 seed in this week's ECC Championship Tournament where they will take on No. 2 seed and host, Queens on Friday at 1 p.m.
